Flat, open vistas.
West Jutland is undeniably flat, with a countryside that is both beautiful and rough, and distinguished by wide, open spaces and good, long views. The countryside here consists of an almost uninterrupted wide sandy beach all the way up the coast, with large stretches of dunes, heathlands and charming stretches of fjord further inland. One of the keys to the charm of West Jutland is that it is relatively sparsely populated, adding to the distinctive atmosphere of the countryside, the towns, the churches and the museums. There are many old towns, cobbled streets, fishing harbours and small fishing hamlets, as well as small museums tucked away in old farms and fishermen's houses, recounting the story of the harsh life of fishermen out on the open sea.
